Toledo Mud Hens News Release
The Mud Hens overcame an early 3-0 deficit to tie the game in the fifth inning, but eventually fell short in extras in Monday morning's School Celebration Day game.
Syracuse jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first after Micah Owings drove in two with a double. The Chiefs added another in the fourth on a Chris Marrero RBI single to take a three-run lead over the Hens.
The Mud Hens rallied to tie the game in the fifth on a series of three RBI doubles to even the score at 3-3. The score remained until the tenth inning when the Chiefs managed to score a run off Bruce Rondon without a hit to give the Chiefs the victory.
The loss was Rondon's first on the season, and the earned run was his first allowed all year.
The Mud Hens will look for a series split to end their homestand tomorrow in another 10:30 a.m. School Celebration Day game. RHP Derek Hankins (1-2, 2.84 ERA) will make the start for Toledo.
