Reno Aces News Release

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.-The Reno Aces pushed across four runs in the top of the ninth, but the Albuquerque Isotopes walked-off with a 6-5 victory on Sunday afternoon at Isotopes Park.

Reno entered the ninth inning down 5-1, but back-to-back singles with two outs pushed across a run. A two-RBI single by Alfredo Marte drove in two more runs before Ed Easley scored on a wild pitch with Evan Frey at the plate to knot the game at five.

Reliever Evan Marshall struggled in the bottom of the frame for Reno, walking the first two batters he faced. Tony Gwynn grounded into a double play, but Marshall walked the next batter. Alex Castellanos followed with a walk-off RBI single to give the Isotopes their first win of the series.

Marshall was charged with his third loss of the season, giving up one earned run on one hit through 0.2 innings. Lefty pitchers Eury De La Rosa and Joe Paterson combined to throw1.2 perfect innings in relief of starter Zeke Spruill before Marshall's entrance.

Despite allowing Reno to make a comeback in the ninth, reliever Chris Withrow earned his third win of the season for Albuquerque. Withrow gave up four earned runs on four hits through the final frame. Isotopes starter Angel Castro cruised through his outing, giving up just one unearned run on three hits through 7.0 innings. He recorded a season-high seven strikeouts on the night.

The Aces road trip continues tomorrow, with a four-game series against the Round Rock Express. RHP Chase Anderson (3-4, 5.52 ERA) will get the nod for Reno, while the Express will counter with RHP Jake Brigham (0-1, 16.71 ERA). First pitch is set for 5:05 p.m. PT at The Dell Diamond.

Reno returns home on May 24 for a Memorial Day Weekend series against the Tacoma Rainiers. Tickets are on sale for the upcoming series, and all Aces home games, at RenoAces.com, by calling (775) 334-7000 or by visiting the Aces Ballpark Ticket Office.
