HARRISON, NJ (May 19, 2013) - Midfielder Tim Cahill's 91st minute goal and a stout defensive performance helped the Eastern Conference-leading New York Red Bulls extend their unbeaten streak to six, as they topped the LA Galaxy, 1-0, in front of a sold out crowd of 25,219 at Red Bull Arena Sunday afternoon. The win, which kicked off a three-game homestand, moved the Red Bulls to 24 points and a 7-4-3 record.

Played under soggy conditions, the match seemed destined to end in a scoreless draw until Cahill rose above the Galaxy defense and flicked home a Juninho free kick in second half stoppage time for his fourth goal of the year. New York is 5-0-1 in its last six MLS games and its attendance on Sunday equaled an all-time high set on Oct. 20, 2012 (vs. Sporting Kansas City).

Prior to Cahill's match-winner, both sides had chances to find the back of the net. In the first half, Red Bulls forward Fabian Espindola ran onto an Eric Alexander through ball in the 28th minute and chipped it goal bound over goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini. However, Galaxy defender A.J. DeLaGarza was able to clear it before the ball crossed the line.

On the other end, Robbie Keane's free kick moments before the break was tipped over the bar by goalkeeper Luis Robles.

Robles and the defense, led by Man of the Match Jamison Olave, earned the team's fourth shutout of the year, keeping the Galaxy's attack headed by Keane and Landon Donovan mostly at bay. Keane had a terrific chance to give the visitors the lead in the 89th minute, heading a Gyasi Zardes cross just wide. Earlier, Espindola had a few long range efforts and forced Cudicini to make a stop in the 57th minute.

The Red Bulls continue their three-game homestand on Sunday, May 26 when they take on the Columbus Crew at Red Bull Arena at 5:00 PM ET. Tickets are available by calling 1.877.RBSOCCER or logging onto www.newyorkredbulls.com.
