HOUSTON (Sunday, May 19, 2013) - The Charleston Battery defeated the Houston Dynamo Reserves, 1-0, on Sunday morning at BBVA Compass Stadium. Jamaican forward Dane Kelly scored in the 35th minute as the USL Pro club secured a road win.

With the new partnership between Major League Soccer and USL Pro, the game counts for the Dynamo Reserves in the MLS Reserve League standings and the Battery in the USL Pro standings.

The Dynamo Reserves are now 3-1-0 on the season while the Battery improve to 6-2-0.

Charleston's game-winner began on a set piece 35 yards from goal. A short free kick was played to Emmanuel Adjetey, who sent a cross toward the back of the box. Kelly met the cross with a first-touch finish into the far side of the net for his third goal of the season.

Dynamo goalkeeper Erich Marscheider made several saves to keep the deficit at one goal. First, a long strike from Mike Azira in the 71st minute was stopped by the second-year goalkeeper. Six minutes later, he made an excellent save, using his left foot to stop a well-hit shot from Charleston forward Heviel Cordoves.

Houston came close to equalizing in stoppage time. Dynamo Academy defender Christian Gonzalez struck a shot from 30 yards that was deflected past the post for a corner kick.

The Dynamo Reserves return to action on June 2 at the Columbus Crew Reserves, a day after the Dynamo first team meets the Crew.
