Gary SouthShore Railcats News Release

GARY, Ind. - With Opening Day just two days away, the RailCats have announced a number of transactions to cut down the roster. The club released outfielder Chris Colton, right-handed pitcher Kyle Lindquist, first basemen Kenny Bryant and Brandon Gregorich and catcher Greg Bachman. In addition, right-handed pitcher Matt McSwain has been placed on the inactive list and right-handed pitcher Michael Oros was traded to Florence in the Frontier League.

Colton was signed as a veteran after taking two seasons off from baseball and battled injury during spring training. Bryant played in 16 games for the RailCats as a rookie in 2012, but lost out on the first base job to Steve Liddle in camp. Gregorich had been traded to the RailCats from the Schaumburg Boomers in the off-season. Bachman was a spring training invite.

McSwain is a veteran of seven seasons in the Pirates organization and his status is uncertain. Oros was sent to Florence to complete the Feb. 1 deal that brought right-handed pitcher Ian Durham to Gary.

The RailCats roster currently sits at 22, one shy of the league maximum during the first ten days of the season.
