GARY, Ind. - The RailCats regular season begins Thursday night with Opening Day at U. S. Steel Yard. The RailCats will be starting their 12th season as a franchise and 11th year of play at the Steel Yard. The season begins with a seven-game homestand, featuring a four-game series with the Lincoln Saltdogs followed by a three-game set with the Wichita Wignuts. The homestand will feature all of the RailCats weekly promotions in addition to great giveaways and entertainment for the entire family at an affordable price.
Weekly promotions this year are Thirsty Thursdays, Fireworks Friday, Souvenir Saturday, Times Family Sunday, Kids Eat Free Mondays, Two For Tuesdays and Dollar Wednesdays.

Thursday, May 16 vs. Lincoln Saltdogs @ 7:10 p.m. (VIP Gate opens at 5:30 p.m., all gates at 6:00 p.m.)
Magnet Schedule Giveaway, Thirsty Thursday, Post-game Fireworks - It's RailCats opening night where ALL fans in attendance will receive a magnet schedule courtesy of Great Lakes Orthopedics, as they enter the gate. Thirsty Thursday allows fans to purchase $2 drafts of Miller Lite and Miller Genuine Draft and after the game stick around for a post-game fireworks extravaganza!
Friday, May 17 vs. Lincoln Saltdogs @ 7:10 p.m. (VIP Gate opens at 5:30 p.m., all gates at 6:00 p.m.)
Burning Man Appearance, Fireworks Friday - The Burning Man returns to U. S. Steel Yard! Prepare to be thrilled as the Guinness World Record holder sets himself on fire and runs the bases after the game. The Burning Man is brought to you by Valley Fire Protection Services. Stick around after the game for a post-game fireworks extravaganza after every Friday home game at U. S. Steel Yard.
Saturday, May 18 vs. Lincoln Saltdogs @ 6:10 p.m. (VIP Gate 4:30 p.m., all gates at 5:00 p.m.)
American Red Cross Blood Drive, Heroes Night, Baseball Cap Giveaway - Come out to U. S. Steel yard from 3:30-7:30 p.m. for the American Red Cross Blood Drive. Make your donation appointment by calling 800-RED-CROSS or online at redcrossblood.org. All donors receive a free flex ticket which may be used for any RailCats home game in 2013.
Tickets are available for $5 each for Service Members, Veterans and First Responders as part of Heroes Night brought to you by Northwest Indiana Military Support Network, the American Red Cross and the Northwest Indiana Veterans Action Coalition.

Times Family Sunday, Kids Run the Bases - Purchase four tickets, four hot dogs and four pops for $36 with coupon from the Times. After the game all kids will run the bases and players will be signing autographs for fans! (Weather permitting)
Monday, May 20 vs. Wichita Wingnuts @ 7:10 p.m. (VIP Gate at 5:30 p.m., all gates at 6:00 p.m.)
Kids Eat Free - The first 500 kids through the gate on Monday night will receive a voucher for one hot dog, pop, popcorn meal.
Tuesday, May 21 vs. Wichita Wingnuts @ 11:10 a.m. (VIP Gate at 9:30 a.m., all gates at 10:00 a.m.)
Kids Day, Two for Tuesday - Local schools are invited to the ballpark for the best field trip ever! Two for Tuesday; fans can purchase two tickets and get two free. The same deal applies for hot dogs, pop and chips at the concession stand.
Wednesday, May 22 vs. Wichita Wingnuts @ 11:10 a.m. (VIP Gate at 9:30 a.m., all gates at 10:00 a.m.)
Kids Day, Dollar Wednesday - Local schools are invited to the ballpark for the best field trip ever! Dollar Wednesday features buy a ticket, get one for $1. Fans can also purchase $1 hot dogs, pop, popcorn and chips at the concession stand.
After the seven game homestand to begin the season, the RailCats will spend the weekend in Kansas City playing a three-game series against the T-Bones, and return home for a three-game series with the Sioux City Explorers from Monday, May 27 to Wednesday, May 29.
Tickets for all RailCats games can be purchased online at railcatsbaseball.com, over the phone at (219) 882-2255, or in person at U. S. Steel Yard. Groups of 10 or more may call a RailCats ticket representative for special group disounts, including food packages.
