Somerset Patriots Sign Former New York Met Infielder Anderson Hernandez

Bridgewater, NJ- The Five-Time Atlantic League Champion Somerset Patriots have announced the signing of infielder Anderson Hernandez.

Hernandez has 240 games of Major League experience over six seasons with the New York Mets, Washington Nationals, Cleveland Indians, and Houston Astros.

Hernandez spent most of his Major League career with the Mets, where he played from 2005 through 2007, and again in 2009.

He last appeared in the Majors during the 2010 season when he split time with the Indians and Astros.

For his Major League career, he has a .241 average, 155 hits, 25 doubles, and 60 RBI.

In addition to his Major League service time, Hernandez has eight seasons of Triple-A experience with the Detroit Tigers, Mets, Nationals, Indians, Astros, and Pittsburg Pirates organizations.

He spent the 2012 season in Indianapolis, the Triple-A affiliate of the Pirates and hit .268 with 99 hits and 39 RBI in 105 games played.

Hernandez has a minor league career .268 average, 1,240 hits, 173 doubles, 59 triples, 36 home runs, and 396 RBI in 1,214 games played.

He will be activated for the team's series against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs beginning at TD Bank Ballpark on Tuesday night.

In other team news, the Patriots have traded left-handed pitcher Ryan Zamorsky to the Evansville Otters of the Frontier League for future considerations.
