
Blue Bombers Add Three to Defence

WINNIPEG, MB - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed import defensive backs Bert Brown and David James along with import linebacker Daniel Sheffield, the team announced today.
Brown (6-0, 169, Union College, DOB: BLANK in Daytona Beach, Florida) saw action in all four years while at Union College and racked up 123 tackles, nine interceptions, 35 pass knockdowns, five forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and five blocked kicks throughout his collegiate career. Brown also spent time returning kicks, fielding 31 kickoffs for 635 yards and 15 punts for 115 yards. He was named Honorable Mention on defence all four seasons.
James (5-11, 190, Weber State, DOB: May 26, 1990 in Edmond, Oklahoma) transferred to Weber State from the University of Wyoming and established himself as one of the top cornerbacks in the Big Sky Conference. He finished his collegiate career with 98 tackles and four interceptions, one of which he returned 75-yards for a touchdown which ranks as the second-longest interception return in school history. James appeared in 31 games over three seasons and started 26.
Sheffield (6-3, 206, Troy, DOB: February 10, 1988 in Ashburn, Georgia) played three seasons with the Trojans and finished his career with 147 defensive tackles, seven tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and one interception. Prior to transferring to Troy, Sheffield played one season at Garden City Community College in Kansas where he tallied 79 tackles, two interceptions and one forced fumble. He attended training camp with the Saskatchewan Roughriders last year, but was among the team's final cuts.
