
Game Two Suspended Due to Rainfall with Nationals Leading Dash 4-1

Woodbridge, VA-With the Potomac Nationals leading the Winston Salem Dash 4-1 headed to the 5th inning on Saturday night, the skies opened up and torrential rainfall blanketed the Pfitzner Stadium diamond while lightning and thunder complemented the bullets of rain forcing the Game Three contest into a rain delay that began at 7:57pm. After a 1 hour, 35 minute delay, at 9:32 pm the decision was made to suspend the game and finish Game Two on Mother's Day Sunday beginning with the completion of the suspended matchup at 12:00pm followed by a seven inning game.
Potomac RHP Taylor Hill, who will receive a no decision, as he did not pitch through the requisite five innings to qualify for the win due to rainfall, dealt 4.0 innings and allowed one earned run on four hits with one walk and four strikeouts.
Winston-Salem RHP Chris Beck, who could end up being the losing pitcher, surrendered four earned runs on five hits, all collected by Potomac sticks in the bottom of the 4th inning. Beck walked four and gave up one home run.
The Dash plated the first run of the game in the 2nd stanza when 3B David Herbek knocked an RBI infield single to score the double of RF Mark Haddow.
Beck did not allow a base hit through 3.1 innings before C Adrian Nieto blasted a double off the right field wall in the 4th frame. With two outs, DH Caleb Ramsey ripped an RBI single into right field. 3B Justin Miller cranked his first home run of the season over both tiers of signage in left field, a two-run shot. Potomac scored another run on an RBI double up the left field line off the lumber of LF Billy Burns to give the Nationals a 4-1 lead.
No pitches were thrown in the top of the 5th inning and the leadoff batter for Winston-Salem is CF Adam Heisler, the true leadoff man for the Dash.
Starting pitchers for both the completion of the suspended game tomorrow and the backend seven inning Game Three are to be determined.
Sunday is a Mother's Day celebration at The Pfitz in which all ladies in attendance will receive flowers upon entry courtesy of Lake Ridge Florist and wine specials, while the first 500 children 12 and under can participate in Kids Eat Free sponsored by Little Caesars Team Dumfries and Haymarket.
