Charlotte Knights News Release
(Fort Mill, SC) - Chicago White Sox LHP John Danks will continue his Major League Baseball rehab assignment and start for the Charlotte Knights on Sunday, May 12 as the Knights face the Pawtucket Red Sox from Knights Stadium in game three of their four-game series. Gates open at 1:00 p.m. with first pitch scheduled for 2:15 p.m. on Sunday.
Sunday's start will be his second with the Knights this season. On May 7 in Columbus, Danks allowed two runs on four hits over five innings in game one of a doubleheader against the Clippers. He struck-out four batters, walked five and threw 92 pitches. Danks also made one rehab start with the Birmingham Barons earlier this month. On May 2, the 27-year-old lefty allowed two runs over seven innings in a win.
Danks is recovering from left shoulder surgery, which he underwent on August 6, 2012. A native of Austin, Texas, Danks is one of two pitchers in White Sox history to make at least 25 starts in each of his first five seasons (Tommy Thomas is the other). Danks entered the 2013 season with a career Major League mark of 57-60 with a 4.12 ERA over six seasons in Chicago.
John's brother Jordan will also be in uniform with the Knights on Sunday. Jordan was optioned to the Knights from Chicago on Friday night and was added to the active roster on Saturday. Jordan, 26, is currently among the Knights all-time career leaders in a number of categories. He is second in hits (314), tied for first in triples (11), second in walks (150), third in doubles (69), third in runs scored (173), second in at-bats (1,177), third in games played (329), and sixth in RBIs (142).
Sunday is Mother's Day and the Knights are set to welcome all moms to the ballpark for a fun day. All moms in attendance will have a chance to win a Washer & Dryer, courtesy of All and Snuggle. Signups will be located on the concourse of Knights Stadium. Sundays are also Family Days, thanks to BB&T. After Sunday's game, all kids can "Run the Bases" thanks to Moe's Southwest Grill.
Tickets for Sunday's game, as well as tickets for all games on the homestand, are on-sale now and can be purchased in person at Knights Stadium, by phone at 704-357-8071 ext. 2106, or online at http://www.charlotteknights.com. Knights Baseball. Tradition Never Ends.
