PORTLAND, Ore. - Unbeaten in their first four matches of the inaugural National Women's Soccer League season, Portland Thorns FC conclude their three-game road trip on Sunday against the Chicago Red Stars at Benedictine Sports Complex in Lisle, Ill.; kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. (Pacific). Thorns FC (3-0-1, 10pts) squared off against the Red Stars (0-2-2, 2pts) once already this season - kicking off the current three-game road stretch on April 27. Second-half substitute forward Danielle Foxhoven scored the go-ahead goal in the 70th minute, her first goal of the season, and forward Christine Sinclair tallied an insurance goal in the 81st minute, helping guide Portland to a 2-0 win at Benedictine Sports Complex. Recording season highs in shots (13) and shots on goal (9) against the Red Stars, Portland goalkeeper Karina LeBlanc stopped three shots on the defensive end to record her first shutout of the year.
In Portland's most recent match on May 4, forward Alex Morgan scored on a 12th-minute penalty kick and midfielder Nikki Washington tallied a goal on a well-placed shot from outside the box in a 2-1 win against the Washington Spirit at Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds, Md. LeBlanc collected a season-high six saves as Thorns FC registered their third consecutive win. Following a season-opening 1-1 road draw at FC Kansas City, Thorns FC have averaged 1.6 goals per game during their current three-game winning streak (5 goals in 3 games).
Defender Jazmyne Avant and midfielder Meleana Shim each made their NWSL debut for Thorns FC against the Spirit. Shim, a former Santa Clara University standout, started and played 89 minutes in the win and Avant entered the match as a 64th-minute substitute for defender Nikki Marshall.
Following Sunday's match at Chicago, Thorns FC return home for a stretch of two games in four days at JELD-WEN Field. Portland squares off against Sky Blue FC on Thursday, May 16, at 7:30 p.m., followed by a match on Sunday, May 19, at 2 p.m. Both home matches will be broadcast on Freedom 970 AM with a live, high-definition web stream available at www.portlandthornsfc.com .
Thorns FC forward Christine Sinclair named NWSL Player of the Month
Portland Thorns FC forward Christine Sinclair on Tuesday was named the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) Player of the Month for April.
Sinclair, 29, earned at least a point in three straight games during the month of April, helping guide Thorns FC to an undefeated 2-0-1 record during the opening month of the inaugural 2013 NWSL season. The Canadian international recorded the first goal in Thorns FC history, converting a game-tying penalty kick on April 13 in a 1-1 draw against FC Kansas City in the league's inaugural match.
A former standout at the University of Portland, Sinclair assisted on forward Alex Morgan's goal in a 2-1 win against Seattle Reign FC on April 21 in Portland's home opener, becoming the first player in league history to register both a goal and an assist this season.
Sinclair then scored her second goal of the season in the team's next game, a 2-0 road win against the Chicago Red Stars on April 27.

NWSL and FOX Sports Media Group announce television partnership
The NWSL and FOX Sports Media Group (FSMG) recently announced a one-year agreement to televise nine games during the NWSL's inaugural season. As part of the agreement, FSMG will air six regular-season matches and all three playoff matches, which include the two semifinal games on August 24 and 25, and the championship game on August 31.
Beginning July 8, FOX Soccer will televise one game per week over the final six weeks of the season, leading up to the NWSL Playoffs. The schedule will be unveiled in the coming weeks.
Thorns FC single-game tickets on sale
Thorns FC single-game tickets for the 2013 National Women's Soccer League season are on sale. In addition to being available at the JELD-WEN Field box office, fans also will be able to purchase tickets, starting at $12, for all 11 of the team's regular-season NWSL home matches online at www.portlandthornsfc.com .
