(Bridgeport, Conn. - April 28, 2013) - The York Revolution defeated the Bridgeport Bluefish 9-7 on Sunday afternoon at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard.
York struck in the first inning with a Brian Burgamy two run shot off of Bluefish starter Wardell Starling (0-1) who took the loss; lasting just one inning giving up three runs (two earned).
The Revs started Matt Fox who went two innings as York threw eight different pitchers during the course of the game. The win was picked up by Yunior Novoa (1-0) who followed Fox and gave up one hit and struck out one batter in two innings.
The Bluefish put together a valiant effort. They were facing an 8-1 deficit in the bottom half of the seventh inning when Austin Krum (1-3, 2 R, RBI) knocked in Daniel Barbero. Prentice Redman took the next pitched deep with a two run shot to left field, his second home run of the year, to make the score 8-4.
York added an insurance run in the top half of the ninth inning with a Jason Repko homerun, giving them a five run advantage. Bridgeport saw the first two runners reach in the ninth, then with two outs Matt Spencer (2-5, 2 RBI) delivered a two-run single, bringing the 'Fish within three.
Luis Rodriguez (2-5, 2 RBI) came up clutch with an opposite field single that scored Spencer, however, Luis Lopez came in to pinch hit for Barbero and grounded out to end the game.
Bridgeport will be back in action Tuesday night as Southern Maryland comes into town.
