Bailey and Pedersen Listed in Central Scouting's Final Draft Rankings

The Canadian Hockey League today announced Kitchener Rangers forwards Justin Bailey and Brent Pedersen are among the 157 CHL players have been listed by NHL Central Scouting in their Final Rankings for the 2013 NHL Draft which takes place June 30 in New Jersey.

Bailey was named the Rangers' Rookie of the Year after he recorded 17 goals and 19 assists in 57 regular season games. The Williamsville, NY native scored his first OHL playoff goal in the team's Western Conference Semi Final series against the London Knights and added a pair of postseason assists. Ranked 38th by Central Scouting, Bailey also participated in the 2013 CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game in February.

Listed 125th in the Final Rankings, Pedersen was the Rangers' first round pick in the 2011 OHL Priority Selection and was named the team's Most Improved Player of the 2012-13 season after posting 14 goals and 16 assists in the regular season, more than doubling his previous career-high points total. The Arthur, ON native also won bronze medal with Team Ontario at the 2012 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Windsor, ON.

28 of the top 30 ranked North American prospects are from the CHL including the first 23 skaters led by defenceman Seth Jones of the Portland Winterhawks. Halifax Mooseheads' forwards Nathan MacKinnon and Jonathan Drouin are listed second and third respectively, followed by defenceman Darnell Nurse of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds at number four, and forward Sean Monahan of the Ottawa 67's at fifth overall.

The 157 CHL players includes 130 skaters of the 210 ranked by NHL Central Scouting in North America representing over 61% of the Final Rankings, while 27 of the 35 goaltenders ranked by NHL Central Scouting are from the CHL representing over 77%. In total, over 64% of all players ranked by NHL Central Scouting are currently competing in the CHL.

All 40 players that competed in the 2013 Home Hardware CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game in Halifax appear in the rankings.

Last year a total of 99 CHL players were selected in the 2012 NHL Draft in Pittsburgh with 18 CHL players chosen in the first round, including Rangers' import forward Radek Faksa (13th Overall, Dallas Stars).
