Hitmen defeat Oil Kings

Edmonton, AB - Brady Brassart scored the overtime game-winning goal as the Calgary Hitmen defeated the Edmonton Oil Kings 3-2 in the Husky WHL Eastern Conference Championship series opener Thursday evening at Rexall Place. The Hitmen have now played six games beyond regulation, setting a franchise record for most overtime games in a playoff year.

Hitmen forward Victor Rask opened the scoring early in the first period, while Zane Jones also scored in the win. Dating back to the regular season, Rask now has points in 17-straight games including 14 points (5g, 9a) over 11 playoff contests.

Former Hitmen forward Trevor Cheek and Henrik Samuelsson each put up tallies for the Oil Kings in the loss.

Calgary goaltender Chris Driedger stopped 33 of 35 shots he faced to record his ninth career playoff win.
