HARRISON, NJ (April 17, 2013) - In a tight contest, the New York Red Bulls (2-4-2, 8 pts.) fell, 1-0, to Eastern Conference leader Sporting Kansas City (4-1-2, 14 pts.) Wednesday night at Red Bull Arena.

Sporting Kansas City took the lead in the 13th minute and recorded the game's only goal. Graham Zusi's corner kick was met by Aurelien Collin, who nodded it into the back of the net.
However, New York nearly responded moments later. A Juninho free kick was punched out by goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen. Thierry Henry was the first to the loose ball and put it on frame, but Nielsen was able to deflect it. In the 30th minute, Juninho played Fabian Espindola into the attacking third and the Argentine drove it into to box, cut to his right foot and shot at Nielsen.
The hosts looked to tie the game up following halftime and Henry was able to run at the Sporting defense and curled a left-footed attempt past the post. On the other end, Red Bulls goalkeeper Luis Robles came up with a huge stop to deny Paulo Nagamura's low blast. Henry had a terrific chance in the 64th minute, being put through on goal by a Roy Miller chip. The Frenchman beat Nielsen with his shot and the ball went inches wide.
The Red Bulls were reduced to 10 men in second half stoppage time when Juninho was issued a straight red card.
