Luis Jimenez Gets First Angels Call-Up

SALT LAKE CITY (April 12, 2013) - The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announced today that the club has recalled infielder Luis Jimenez from Triple-A Salt Lake. His first appearance with the Angels will be his major league debut. In addition, the Angels have reassigned outfielder J.B. Shuck to Salt Lake.

Jimenez, 25, has appeared in eight games for the Bees in 2013, hitting .367 with three doubles, one home run, 11 total hits (team-high), four RBI, five runs scored and one stolen base. The Dominican Republic native hit .309 with 85 RBI and 16 home runs for the Bees in 2012, earning the Angels organization's batting title. He also led all PCL third basemen with a .947 fielding percentage in 2012. Jimenez originally signed with the Angels as a free agent on August 22, 2005.

Shuck, 25, has appeared in four games for the Angels in 2013, hitting .250. The Westerville, Ohio native appeared in 115 games for Triple-A Oklahoma City in 2012, hitting .298 with 11 doubles, three triples, 33 RBI and 12 stolen bases. Originally selected by the Houston Astros in the sixth round of the 2008 Draft, Shuck joined the Angels via free agency this past offseason.
