Everett Silvertips News Release
EVERETT - The Everett Silvertips today announced plans for our 2013 Summer Hockey Camps, which will be held from June 24 through 28 at Comcast Arena in downtown Everett. One camp for skaters will be divided up into three different age groups, while another camp specifically for goaltenders will have two different levels. Registration is open for both camps, so sign up now to reserve your spot!
The Silvertips' Hockey Camp starts at just $125 and focuses on hockey fundamentals, skill development and fun. The camp will offer professional instruction from General Manager Garry Davidson, Assistant Coach Mitch Love and Head Scout Bil La Forge as well as guest instruction from current and former WHL players. Coaches and counselors will emphasize the characteristics the Silvertips expect from our own NHL prospects in an enthusiastic and fun atmosphere.
On-ice training will focus on power skating, balance, edge control, skill development, puck handling, passing, receiving, shooting and defending. A strong work ethic, teamwork and sportsmanship will be encouraged. Camp sessions will be split into three age groups: 10 & under, 11-14 and 15 & up. Cost is only $125 for five total hours of ice time in the 10 & under group and $150 for six hours of ice time in the two older age groups.
The Silvertips' Summer Goalie Camp will be run by Silvertips Goaltending Coach Taylor Dakers and World Pro Goaltending. The camp focuses on making goaltenders more efficient through repetition of game-situation movements, which helps goaltenders learn to move correctly, in control, and with balance. Goaltenders will learn where to be, how to get there quickly, how to make consistent saves, and how to control rebounds.
World Pro Goaltending teaches a system that is a foundation to build upon and develop. They recognize that the key to effective goaltending is simplicity: the simpler the game you play, the more often you will be in a good position to make saves. The summer goaltending camp is split into two groups: Group 1 includes 1.5 hours of ice per day for $349, while Group 2 includes 2.5 hours of ice per day at a cost of $549. Both camps include a dry-land training element, provided lunch, and much more.
With their 10th Anniversary season concluded, the Silvertips will transition into preparations for their 11th year in the WHL in 2013-14.
