Former Forward Andy Taranto Signs with ECHL's Alaska Aces

FARGO, ND- Former Fargo Force forward Andy Taranto has signed a professional contract with the Alaska Aces of the ECHL. The University of Alaska-Fairbanks Senior made his professional debut on Friday, March 29 with the team.

The Woodridge, IL native is the third Force player to sign a professional contract behind Mike Lee and Josh Birkholz. He is the first undrafted alum to be signed by a pro team. He grabbed his first professional point on March 30 with an assist in his second game with the team as the Aces took on the Ontario Reign.

Taranto is the first of the Nanooks' 2012-13 senior class to sign a professional contract. He finished his final season with the University of Alaska-Fairbanks as a two-time assistant captain and earned a place on the CCHA's All-Conference second team. He led the Nanooks in scoring in the 2012-13 season with 16 goals and 14 assists in 37 games.

Prior to his college career with Alaska, Taranto was a member of the Fargo Force inaugural season. Taranto played in 60 games with the Force, where he led the team in scoring with 59 points (34g, 25a.) The USHL awarded him Top Goal Scorer in the league with 34 goals along with being named to the USHL second team.

Taranto and the Aces just finished the regular season and look to start their playoff bid this weekend against the San Francisco Bulls.
