Kelowna wins over Seattle

The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 4-3 on Saturday night at Prospera Place in Kelowna, forcing a game six in the series Tuesday night in Seattle and now trailing the T-Birds 3-2 in the WHL Western Conference quarterfinal.

Tyson Baillie, Colton Heffley, Dylen McKinlay and Myles Bell scored for the Rockets, who appeared to have the game in hand with a 4-1 lead with less than a minute to play in the third before allowing two Seattle goals in 11 seconds.

But the Rockets held on for the win, its second straight of the series to pull within a game at down 3-2 in the series, with game six on Tuesday at the ShoWare Centre in Kent, WA.

"Going down 3-0 in the series is a hard thing to do but we have a good group in here and we know we can win," said Tyrell Goulbourne on the AM 1150 post game show. "We are going to push them in Seattle and hopefully bring it back to Kelowna."

Jordon Cooke earned the win in net for Kelowna, who outshot the T-Birds 27-17 in the game.

If the Rockets can win on Tuesday in Seattle, a game seven in the series will be held on Wednesday at Prospera Place.

"We have two games to go here and we just have to bring our game like we did in the first two periods," said defenceman Damon Severson. "We just can't take our foot off the gas like we did in the last minute."

Attendance on Saturday night in Kelowna was 4, 763.
