Brampton Steelheads News Release
Mississauga, ON - Unlike the previous three games in this series, the Bulls did not require minutes to open the scoring. In Game 4, it took them 11 seconds. However, a resilient Steelheads team found enough offence to overshadow a Belleville team that outscored Mississauga by 49 goals in the regular season, and nine in the series, before tonight. Against all odds, the Steelheads entertained a season-high crowd of 5,263 at the Hershey Centre before defeating the Bulls 5:2 and tying the series.
Joseph Cramarossa opened the scoring 11 seconds into the game on a wrister past Tyson Teichmann. The Steelheads struggled to contain the Bulls early, but minimized scoring chances against. Dylan Smoskowitz, who had not recorded a point before tonight's game, had Mississauga's best chance to equalize in the first period on a blocked shot from the slot.
Belleville began the second period on a man-advantage and capitalized. Brendan Gaunce found a streaking Jake Cardwell, who one-timed the puck past Teichmann. Mississauga responded with three consecutive goals before the end of the period. Smoskowitz scored his first goal of the series on a rebound to the right of Malcolm Subban. Riley Brace scored his first goal of the series, beating Subban from the slot four minutes later. Smoskowitz gave the Steelheads the lead, collecting another rebound at the left side of the net before beating Subban.
The Bulls enjoyed three consecutive man-advantage situations to start the third period, but failed to test Teichmann. Brett Foy was hauled down with under five minutes to play, and the Steelheads needed no extra invitation to capitalize. A power play that had been dangerous all game successfully converted for a fourth Mississauga goal. Josh Burnside deflected a Dylan DeMelo shot with 3:15 remaining in front of Subban. Andres Kopstals added a fifth and final Mississauga goal into an empty net goal with a minute remaining.
Mississauga travels to Belleville on Saturday for Game 5 of the series before returning to the Hershey Centre. Game 6 against the visiting Bulls is scheduled for Monday 7:00 p.m. Great seats are still available by calling (905) 502 - 7788, visiting the Hershey Centre Box Office, or logging on to Ticketmaster.
