
Rebels Win 3-2; Lead Raiders 2-0 In First Round Series

One night after the Rebels struck first with a 3-0 victory in game one, these two teams got right back at it for game two.
FIRST PERIOD
For the second straight night, the Rebels opened the scoring early. And, for the second straight night, Cody Thiel made it on to the score sheet with some hard work in the blue paint. He shovelled home a loose puck after Wyatt Johnson was denied by Raiders goalie Luke Siemens. Cory Millette also assisted on the goal 2:35 into the game... 1-0 Rebels.
For the second straight night, the Rebels were awarded a first period penalty shot. For the second straight night, Luke Siemens made the save for the Raiders, this time on Joel Hamilton who earned the penalty shot after being fouled while on a shorthanded breakaway.
SECOND PERIOD
The Rebels continued their trend of scoring early in periods when Mathew Dumba's point blast found its way home just 47 seconds into the second. Dominik Volek and Turner Elson assisted on the powerplay goal... 2-0 Rebels.
The lead for the home side grew a few minutes later when Elson set up Rhyse Dieno for a shot from the Raiders slot. Siemens made the initial save but Dieno stuck with it and put home the rebound. Dieno's second goal of the series, assisted by Elson and Dumba, came at the 6:25 mark... 3-0 Rebels.
Prince Albert scored for the first time in the series when Jonas Knutsen tracked down a bouncing puck in tight and knocked it past Patrik Bartosak. Reid Gardiner and Riley Guenther assisted on the Raiders goal at the 15:15 mark... 3-1 Rebels.
THIRD PERIOD
The Raiders pulled within a goal at the midway point of the third period. Shane Danyluk found the puck in the Rebels slot and fired it past Bartosak for his first goal of the series. Marc McNeill and Leon Draisaitl with the assists on the goal at 10:05... 3-2 Rebels.
Prince Albert poured on pressure in the final half of the period but could not crack Patrik Bartosak. The Rebels hung on to win by a final score of 3-2.

OTHER NOTES... Cody Thiel scored his second goal in as many playoff games after scoring four times in regular season play... Dumba's second period tally was the first powerplay goal by either team in this series... a number of Rebels midget-age prospects were in the stands taking in the game after being put through their paces on the ice earlier in the day by Rebels staff.
