Niagara IceDogs News Release

The first period saw the game remain scoreless for much of the frame as both IceDogs starter Brent Moran and Barrie starter Alex Fotinos were on their game early. Unfortunately for the IceDogs, they would not make it out of the frame scoreless as Barrie would strike twice in quick succession with five minutes remaining in the frame. The IceDogs would continue their offensive pressure and defenseman Shayne Rover would bury the puck on the powerplay, to cut Barrie's lead back to one heading into the first intermission. Shot on goal were 15-9 for Barrie.

The second period would see Barrie extend their lead at the 4:05 mark of the frame to make it a 3-1 game. The IceDogs would continue to battle throughout the period, looking to close the gap and despite being outshot by the Colts 16-11, Mack Lemmon would score with a minute left in the frame to make it a 3-2 IceDogs deficit.

The third period would see tempers flare on both sides of the ice as the IceDogs looked to close the gap further. Unfortunately they would be unable to get any closer and as the final horn sounded the score remained 3-2 in favour of Barrie. Shots on goal in the last period were tied 14 apiece.

The IceDogs will be opening their playoff schedule against the Oshawa Generals in Oshawa next Friday and Sunday. The IceDogs will then return home on Tuesday, March 26th and Thursday, March 28th for games 3 & 4 of the series. Tickets for both those games will go on sale this coming Monday, March 18th at 10am through all IceDogs ticketing locations. Get your tickets early and be sure not to miss any of what should be a great playoff series!
