Villemaire got the Dogs on the board with a snapshot that beat Whitney at 3:33 for his eighth of the year. Jakub Izacky and Stepehen Anderson made a nice give-and-go play to get Villemaire the puck right in the slot for the game's opening goal, a power play goal for Saint John.
Victoriaville found themselves with a 2-on-1 heading into the Sea Dogs zone, and with a deke around the net, Rhéaume found himself in front of the net for a tap-in.
The Sea Dogs pulled back into the lead at 16:22 as Tsogkas swerved around a sprawled Whitney with the puck and tucked in his second of the year.
In the last minute of the period, Veilleux beat Auger on a rebound chance at 19:04 to send the teams to their dressing rooms tied.
The Sea Dogs were outshot 13-6 in the first.
Halley was able to get away shorthanded, darting out of the penalty box and taking the pass to streak towards Auger. His deke fooled the netminder and he went top shelf to give the Tigres their first lead of the game at 5:45.
Just seconds later at 5:57 with the man advantage, Villemaire got his second of the game as Whitney kicked Villemaire's rebound into the net. It was Villemaire's ninth of the year and knotted the game at 3-3.
