
Warriors Drop Bighorns in Close Finish

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The Santa Cruz Warriors defeated the Reno Bighorns 94-90 tonight in a game where three Warriors players recorded season-highs.
The Warriors were led by Cameron Jones, who scored a game-high and season-high 30 points. Travis Leslie logged a double-double with 17 points and 14 rebounds, along with a game-high and season-high seven assists. Hilton Armstrong chipped in with 13 points and had a season-high four steals.
The Reno Bighorns were led by Samardo Samuels, who scored 26 points and grabbed a game-high 19 boards. Ronald DuPree, playing his first game with the Bighorns, scored 14 points off the bench, and Tajuan Porter and Dar Tucker each scored 12.
Santa Cruz scored 33 points in the first quarter, but cooled off and only had 18 in the second, going into halftime tied with Reno at 51. The Bighorns led 74-71 after three quarters, and the fourth frame was tied four times. With 1:03 left in the game, Cameron Jones converted a layup off of a Hilton Armstrong steal to put the Warriors up 91-90, and the Warriors added three more points for the win.
Reno held the edge on shooting percentage (44.0%-43.2%) and rebounds (49-46). Santa Cruz scored more points in the paint (56-48) and had fewer turnovers (18-11).
