Orlando fired 43 shots on goal last night, but were able to solve Stingrays G Ryan Zapolski just one time as the Solar Bears fell 3-1 to the South Carolina Stingrays . After an early barrage of chances, including a shot from D Darick Martin ringing off the goal post, the Solar Bears surrendered the opening marker just over 5:00 into the first period. Just like the night before, the Stingrays stretched their lead to 3-0 over Orlando early in the third period. D Jesse Dudas put the Solar Bears on the board at 15:43 of the third period, but despite a late push with the goaltender pulled the Solar Bears were unable to mount a third straight third period comeback and fell 3-1 to the Stingrays. The contest marked the first time the Solar Bears lost the South Carolina at Amway Center, and are now 2-1-0-0 against the Stingrays at home and 3-4-0-0 against the Stingrays overall this season.

Solar Bears Notes:

Orlando welcomed their fifth largest crowd of the season to Amway Center yesterday, as 8,590 fans were in attendance... The Solar Bears lost at home for the first time when over 7,000 fans were in the building. Orlando is now 7-1-0-0 when over 7,000 fans are in attendance at the Amway Center... D Jesse Dudas scored his first goal as a Solar Bear when he tallied in the third period... F Michael Neal is one assist shy of 50 in his ECHL career... D Darick Martin needs two more points to earn 100 in his professional career... Orlando has lost just twice in regulation in their last 13 home games, dating back to a 6-2 win over the Fort Wayne Komets on December 9. The Solar Bears are 10-2-1 during that span... The Solar Bears will wear their third jerseys today, the second time they have worn them. The last time Orlando wore their third jerseys they defeated the Florida Everblades 8-4 on December 28... G Mike Brodeur, D Josh Caron, F Dan Dries, D Sean Lorenz, and F Dale Mahovsky remain on the 21-day IR... The Solar Bears will continue to hold their food drive during today's game. Over 800 food items have been donated so far this weekend.

Ryan Ginand Loaned to Houston:

The Orlando Solar Bears announced today the F Ryan Ginand has been loaned to their American Hockey League affiliate, the Houston Aeros. Ginand has played in 26 games for the Solar Bears this season, scoring six goals and adding 14 assists for 20 points. The Milford, MA, native is third on the Solar Bears with 122 shots on goal. Ginand has played in five games for the Aeros this season, picking up eight penalty minutes.

Stingrays Notes:

G Ryan Zapolski, who leads the ECHL with a 1.89 GAA and .933 save percentage, turned aside 42 of 43 Solar Bears shots last night. He also leads the league with four shutouts... South Carolina is third in the league with 2.65 goals allowed per game... The Stingrays improved to 23-0-2 when leading after two periods of play... South Carolina is 22-4-1-0 when scoring the game's first goal... South Carolina is 13th on the power play at 19.0 percent (44-for-231) and 11th on the penalty kill at 83.2 percent (178-for-214)... F Hunter Bishop leads the Stingrays in goals (23), assists (24), and points (47). He has picked up points in both games against Orlando this weekend.
