Bakersfield Condors News Release
CONDORSTOWN, Calif. - G Brian Stewart made 46 saves for his first shutout of the season, as the Bakersfield Condors (17-34-2-3, 39pts) won their third in a row, 1-0 over the Colorado Eagles (24-24-1-2, 51pts) Saturday night at Rabobank Arena.
Neither team lit the lamp in the first, as both Condors G Brian Stewart and Eagles G Kyle Jones combined for 17 saves. Despite the lack of scoring there were plenty of opportunities and physical play.
The Condors earned a power play five minutes into the period and used it to take the lead. F Jake Morley buried a centering feed from F Nicholas Tremblay at 6:15 to make it 1-0. Stewart was steady through the period, stopping 20 Colorado shots, while the Condors missed a glorious opportunity to extend the lead with a late major power play. It remained 1-0 through 40 minutes.
If there was any doubt how the game would end, Stewart erased it with 17 more saves in the final frame. The Condors killed of a couple of key power plays as well, and held on for the win. The Condors swept the weekend series against the Eagles, and have now won three in a row, gaining ground on San Francisco and Utah, who both lost tonight.
