Winnipeg Blue Bombers News Release
WINNIPEG, MB - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have announced that it has re-signed slotback Clarence Denmark, agreeing to terms prior to the free agency period opening today.
"Clarence is a solid contributor to our offence and a player who has excellent speed and still great potential. He is a quiet guy who leads by example, and we are pleased to have him continue his career in Winnipeg, said Vice-President and General Manager Joe Mack.
Denmark, coming off his second season in the CFL, recorded 54 catches for 620 yards and one touchdown in 2012, starting all but one game due to a family matter. He was also used sparingly but effectively on kickoff returns.
Denmark's rookie season in 2011 saw him become the Bomber nominee for Rookie of the Year after he finished the season second on the team in receiving with 65 receptions for 818 yards and five touchdowns, while also adding 81 rushing yards on seven carries. Denmark also played in both the East Final and 99th Grey Cup, registering four catches for 30 yards and two carries for 15 yards in the East Division Championship game.
"The Blue Bomber organization from the top down has really embraced me and the players in our locker room, and made it an atmosphere you want to be around. Between the excitement of a new stadium, the great fans of Winnipeg, my teammates and the organization's direction, this was the right choice for me and I'm really glad to stay a Blue Bomber," said Denmark.
