Calgary Stampeders News Release
Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce the re-signing of import offensive lineman Stanley Bryant. As per team policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Bryant, who had been eligible to become a free agent today at 10 a.m. MST, played 13 regular-season contests for the Stampeders in 2012 as well as the West Division semifinal, the West Division final and the Grey Cup.
The 27-year-old Goldsboro, N.C., native was part of an offensive line that helped the Stamps offence lead the CFL in rushing touchdowns and total touchdowns during the 2012 season while ranking second in points, rushing yards, first downs and pass-completion percentage and third in fewest sacks allowed.
"I'm pleased that Stanley decided to remain with the Stampeders rather than test free agency," said Hufnagel. "The offensive line is a key to the success of any football club and Stanley is an important part of that unit for our club."
Over three seasons with the Stampeders, the East Carolina University alum has played 30 regular-season contests and four playoff games. He was the Stampeders' nominee for the CFL's Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman award in 2011.
"Calgary is where I wanted to be and I'm happy to be coming back," said Bryant. "This organization has great fans, great players and great coaches and I'm really glad to be a Stampeder."
