
Sparks Announce 2013 WNBA Schedule

LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Sparks will open its 34-game WNBA schedule at home against the Seattle Storm to tip-off the 2013 season on Sunday, May 26 at 5:30 p.m. at STAPLES Center.
Under the direction of 2012 WNBA Coach of the Year Carol Ross, recently signed free agent guard Lindsey Harding joins veteran forward and Olympic gold medalist Candace Parker, 2012 Rookie of the Year Nneka Ogwumike, 2012 Most Improved Player Kristi Toliver and a re-energized Sparks team as Los Angeles opens its 17th WNBA season.
Los Angeles will have three nationally televised games on ESPN2: July 11 at Tulsa, July 18 vs. Phoenix and Aug. 20 at Seattle. Games on the Sparks new local television homes, Time Warner Cable SportsNet and Time Warner Cable Deportes, will be released at a later date.
The Sparks home schedule is highlighted by nine weekend contests: two Friday night games, three Saturday contests and four Sunday matinees. Los Angeles will play 22 games against Western Conference foes and 12 against the East, including the only home game against defending WNBA Champion Indiana Fever on Friday, Aug. 16.
July boasts the most home games for the Sparks with six of nine games at STAPLES Center. On Thursday, July 4, patriotic Sparks will ignite in Los Angeles with an afternoon Fourth of July Celebration Game against the New York Liberty at 12:30 p.m. The month also includes the Sparks popular Camp Day Game on July 25 at 12:30 p.m., hosting the Seattle Storm and thousands of Los Angeles youth for an afternoon of basketball and summer fun.
Plenty of air miles will be traveled in August as seven of the Sparks 11 games will be on the road. The travel begins early with an extended road stretch to start the month, playing five games in nine days: Tulsa (Aug. 2), Washington (Aug. 4), Connecticut (Aug. 6), Indiana (Aug. 8) and New York (Aug. 10). The team will play its first home game of the month on Tuesday, Aug. 13 vs. Chicago.
The Sparks will venture on a four-game road trip to San Antonio (Aug. 31), Atlanta (Sep. 2), Minnesota (Sep. 4) and Tulsa (Sep. 6) before wrapping up the regular season with two home games: Sept. 12 vs. Minnesota and Sept. 15 vs. Phoenix.
Sparks home weekday and Saturday games tip-off at 7:30 p.m. excluding Saturday, July 6 at 2:00 p.m. vs. San Antonio and Thursday, July 18 at 7:00 p.m. vs. Phoenix. Friday games begin at 8:00 p.m. and all Sunday contests are set for 5:30 p.m. except for Sept. 15 at 2:00 p.m.
The Sparks 2013 schedule is also highlighted by fan-favorite theme nights including: Dads & Daughters Night on Saturday, June 15 vs. the San Antonio Silver Stars and Fan Appreciation Night on Sunday, Sept. 15 vs. Phoenix. For the Sparks 2013 schedule and promotional calendar, visit LASparks.com.
