(London, ON) A three-goal first period was all the Spitfires needed in a 5-2 win over the Knights at the Budweiser Gardens on Friday night.

Goals by Alex Aleardi (16), Josh Ho-Sang (8) and Adam Bateman staked Windsor (18-19-1-6) to a 3-1 lead after 20 minutes.

Remy Giftopoulos (16) added his first as a Spitfire on the power play at 2:41 of the second period, extending the lead to 4-1 after 40 minutes.

Goaltender Jaroslav Pavelka did the rest, making 32 saves - including 26 over the final 40 minutes - for the win.

Nick Ebert (7) added an empty net goal with 1:30 play, after making a spectacular block to thwart a London 3- on-2 at the other end.

Kerby Rychel had three assists and was a team-high +2 on the night.

Jake Patterson started in goal for London (35-8-1-2), but didn't last long after giving up three goals on just eight shots in 10:58 of work in the first period. He was replaced by Anthony Stolarz, who stopped 20 of the 21 shots he faced.

The Spits wrap up the weekend on Sunday afternoon, as they host the Sarnia Sting at 2:05.
