Pierro-Zabotel Selected as a Started for ECHL All-Stars

Gladiators forward Casey Pierro-Zabotel has been selected as a starter to represent the Gladiators in the 2013 ECHL All Star Game. Pierro-Zabotel joins Philipp Grubauer of Reading, Denny Urban of Reading, Nathan Deck of Stockton, Justin Dowling of Idaho and C.J. Stretch of Ontario as a starter on the ECHL Squad.

The Ashcroft, BC native Pierro-Zabotel has posted 37 points (nine goals, 28 assists) in 34 games with Gwinnett this season. Pierro-Zabotel has collected 28 assists which currently ranks fifth in that category in the ECHL. His 37 points leads the Gladiators in scoring while his 28 assists also leads the team in that category.

Pierro-Zabotel recorded a season best five-game point-scoring streak between November 8th and November 18th where he collected seven points. He has 13 multiple point games and has collected three game winning goals this season. Pierro-Zabotel was also successful on his penalty shot attempt against the Greenville Road Warriors on December 8th and had the game-winning shoot-out goal against the Road Warriors on December 7.

Pierro-Zabotel was selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins round 3 in the 2007 NHL draft. In his last season in the Western Hockey League with Vancouver in 2008-09, he posted 115 points (36 goals, 79 assists) in 72 games. Last season he skated with the Bakersfield Condors and earned 35 points (eight goals, 27 assists) in 71 games.

In his third ECHL season, Pierro-Zabotel has played in 221 ECHL games and is three goals away from collecting his 50th ECHL goal of his career.

The starting lineup is determined in voting by ECHL coaches, team captains, media directors, broadcasters and media members.

The Gladiators are the ECHL Affiliate of the Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League and are members of the ECHL, the Premier "AA" Hockey League and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
