
South Carolina's Zapolski Named Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Ryan Zapolski of the South Carolina Stingrays is the Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Dec. 24-30. It is the second time this season that he was won the weekly award after also winning for the week ending Dec. 2 .
The 26-year-old posted shutouts in both of appearances last week, stopping all 26 shots in a 4-0 win at Gwinnett on Friday and turning aside 23 shots in a 3-0 victory against Wheeling on Saturday.
A native of Erie, Pa., Zapolski is 12-5-0 in 17 appearances this season, and leads the ECHL with a 1.65 goals-against average and a .939 save percentage, and is tied for the league lead with three shutouts.
Zapolski has appeared in 32 career ECHL games with South Carolina, Gwinnett, Toledo and Kalamazoo, posting an overall record of 20-9-1 with five shutouts, a 2.00 goals-against average and a save percentage of .929.
Prior to turning pro, Zapolski played four seasons at Mercyhurst College where he appeared in 109 games and went 48-43-11 with eight shutouts, a 2.77 goals-against average and a save percentage of .920.
