Peterborough Petes Announce Coaching Change

The Peterborough Petes today announced that they have relieved Head Coach Pelino of his Duties after two and a half seasons behind the Petes bench. Petes Assistant Coach and a six-teen year professional hockey career including 14 seasons in the National Hockey League player Jody Hull will take over effective immediately.

The Petes were 55-102-3-11 during Mike Pelino's time behind the bench.

"It became quite apparent that we were not going to extend Mike Pelino's contract past this season, and we felt as a Board of Director's that a change was needed sooner rather than later" says Petes President Jim Devlin. "Jody Hull will take over Head Coaching duties for the remainder of the season alongside Assistant Coach Wayne Clark and Goaltender Coach Andrew Verner. With approximately half of the regular season remaining Jody will have the opportunity to show his abilities as a Head Coach in the OHL."

Jody Hull joined the Petes in 2010 for a second stint as an Assistant Coach after working with the Club from 2005-2008 winning the OHL Championship in 2006 with Head Coach Dick Todd. He is a veteran of 831 NHL games with the Hartford Whalers, New York Rangers, Ottawa Senators, Florida Panthers Tampa Bay Lightning and Philadelphia Flyers. Jody Is a Petes Alumni from 1985-88 where he played 170 games recording 88 goals and 188 points including a 50 goal season in 1987-88. He was a first round, 18th overall selection of the Hartford Whalers in 1987 and was a Gold Medal winner at the 1988 World Junior Championship with Team Canada.
