Cape Breton Eagles News Release
Sydney - It has only been a short time since the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles named 4th year defenseman, Stephen Woodworth, as their Captain and already Woodworth is looking to use his new role to give back to the community.
Following in the footsteps of former Screaming Eagles Assistant Captain Robert Slaney, Woodworth has launched the "Woody's Seats" ticket program. The 19 year old from Middleton, Nova Scotia, has purchased a pair of Screaming Eagles season tickets and has decided to bring an elementary school student to every Screaming Eagles home game remaining in the season as his guest.
"I have lived in Cape Breton for 3 years now, and I even spent last summer here. The community has really embraced me and has been very welcoming. I would like to give something back", says Woodworth.
The program will begin on Friday, December 14th when the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles take on the PEI Rocket. An elementary school student will receive tickets to the game and meet Woodworth at ice level following the game.
"One thing that hockey has taught me is how to work as a team and be respectful to others," said Woodworth. "I hope these tickets can be given to kids as a reward for how they treat others."
Elementary school teachers are invited to nominate a student to receive tickets for an upcoming home game. To nominate a student, contact Ticket Sales Coordinator, Jerrecca Wilcox, at 567-6378 ext.30 or email jerrecca.wilcox@capebretoneagles.com.
