Merton Joins ECHL as Director of Marketing and Licensing

PRINCETON, N.J. - The ECHL announced on Tuesday that it has hired Todd Merton as Director of Marketing and Licensing. He will begin his duties immediately.

Merton will be responsible for corporate sponsorship and league-wide marketing initiatives while also managing the ECHL Licensing Program, which consists of more than 50 national and local licensees. He also will work in conjunction with the host team on the ECHL All-Star Game and Hall of Fame ceremony as well as planning and directing the ECHL Sales, Marketing and Communications Meeting and coordinating all ECHL Board of Governors Meetings.

"Todd's experience at the team level, as well as his background in both corporate sales and merchandise, make him a great fit for this position," said ECHL Commissioner Brian McKenna. "We are pleased to welcome Todd back to the ECHL."

Merton, a native of Orangeville, Ontario, joins the ECHL with 12 years of experience in corporate sales, marketing, merchandising and game operations in professional sports. He previously spent four years in the ECHL as the Director of Corporate Sales, Merchandise and Game Operations with the South Carolina Stingrays as well as time with the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League and Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League. Merton got his start in sports working in baseball for both the Detroit Tigers and Toronto Blue Jays.

Merton attended Southern New Hampshire University, where he received his degree in Sport Management and was a member of the varsity baseball and lacrosse teams.
