Santa Cruz Warriors News Release

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The Santa Cruz Warriors are excited to announce an innovative partnership with Grind Out Hunger that will help provide access to up to 80,000 meals per year for children and families in need through its relationship with Second Harvest Food Bank Santa Cruz County.

"Minor league sports are all about the community - not only creating a family-friendly environment at the games, but ensuring that our neighbors in need are looked after," said Santa Cruz Warriors President Jim Weyermann. "With everything Grind Out Hunger has done for the kids in Santa Cruz, a partnership with the team was a natural fit."

This partnership, which is made possible by founding sponsor Plantronics, enables Grind Out Hunger to reach an audience that is passionate about sports and encourage Warriors fans to channel their enthusiasm into feeding their community.

Grind Out Hunger will be instantly recognizable at every home game. The nonprofit will have its own 60-seat special section behind the basket with a banner overhead. Anybody who wants to support Grind Out Hunger can purchase tickets to sit and cheer in this section. This is currently the only way to secure an individual opening night ticket.

In addition to teaming up at NBA D-League basketball games, the Warriors will partner with Grind Out Hunger and Second Harvest Food Bank during the annual holiday food drive and other events.

"Through the partnerships with Grind Out Hunger, Second Harvest Food Bank, Plantronics and now the Santa Cruz Warriors, this is the perfect mechanism for making a difference in someone's life and working together towards the common goal of feeding families in Santa Cruz County," said Danny Keith, Founder of Grind Out Hunger and Chief Development Officer at Second Harvest Food Bank.

Grind Out Hunger is a national youth driven charity based in Santa Cruz, California, that has collected over 1.5 million meals for families locally in partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank Santa Cruz County since 2003.

The Santa Cruz Warriors are the NBA Development League affiliate of the Golden State Warriors. The team is set to tip-off its inaugural season at the Kaiser Permanente Arena at 140 Front Street on December 23. Season tickets and mini-plans are currently on sale at www.santacruzbasketball.com or Santa Cruz Warriors Headquarters at 903 Pacific Avenue.
