
Solar Bears Add NHL Netminder Toivonen, Forward Derrick Burnett

Orlando, FL - The Orlando Solar Bears announced today that they have agreed to terms with goaltender Hannu Toivonen and forward Derrick Burnett.
Toivonen (6'2", 210 lbs.) was drafted in the first round by the Boston Bruins in 2002 and has played 61 games in the NHL with Boston and the St. Louis Blues. His NHL numbers include a record of 18-24-10, a 3.37 GAA, and .890 save percentage. He first broke into the NHL in 2005-06 with Boston, playing 20 games with a 2.63 GAA and .914 save percentage.
The Finish-born goaltender has also played in 209 games in the AHL (American Hockey League) with a 2.50 GAA, .914 save percentage, and 96-82-15 overall record. Toivonen played 49 games with the Rockford IceHogs in 2010-11, going 21-16-4 with a 2.90 GAA and .907 save percentage.
Burnett (6'2", 185 lbs.) currently serves in the United States Air Force in Cape Canaveral and played in both preseason games with the Solar Bears, earning one assist. In 2010-11 with Air Force Academy (NCAA), the Corona, California, native posted 35 points (eight goals, 27 assists) in 36 games. He led his team in assists and finished second in points in 2010-11 and 2009-10, and in 149 games at Air Force Burnett collected 33 goals and 85 assists for 118 points.
