Bloomington's David Gilbert Named Oakley CHL Player of the Week

GLENDALE, AZ (November 5, 2012) -The Central Hockey League announced today that Bloomington Blaze forward David Gilbert has been named the Oakley Central Hockey League Player of the Week for the period ending November 4, 2012.

Gilbert and the Blaze are both off to great starts this season as the Chicago Blackhawks draft pick (seventh round, 2009 NHL Draft) has helped the Blaze to a 5-2-0 start and second place in the Berry Conference. The Chateauguay, Quebec native had points in all three games last week for Bloomington finishing with four goals and four assists.

In Friday's 5-4 win over Quad City, Gilbert finished with a goal and three assists. On Saturday, the 6-2, 200-pound forward had a hat trick in Bloomington's 6-3 win and then he had an assist in Sunday's loss to the Mallards.

Gilbert played 28 games in the American Hockey League with Rockford last season posting a goal and four assists. This season, he has 11 points (4-7=11) ranking him fifth in the CHL in scoring.
