Albany Devils News Release

ALBANY, NY -- The Albany Devils began their game against the Connecticut Whale the same way they have begun every game this season: by scoring first. However, three second-period goals by the Whale helped sink the Devils, 5-2, Wednesday at Times Union Center. Albany is now 1-3-0-0, while Connecticut improves to 1-3-1-0.

Mike Hoeffel scored for the second time in three games and Jacob Josefson netted his third goal in two outings. Matt Anderson, Dan Kelly, Raman Hrabarenka and Mattias Tedenby earned assists.

Coming off a 30-save, shutout performance at Worcester Saturday, Keith Kinkaid had his shutout streak halted at 133 minutes and 59 seconds. Against Connecticut, he turned away 21 shots.

The Whale received tallies from Brandon Segal, J.T. Miller, Tommy Grant, Andrew Yogan and Kyle Jean. Jason Missiaen earned the victory by making 31 saves to improve to 1-2-0.

Both teams scored on the power play; Albany 1-for-4, while Connecticut went 1-for-5. The Devils held the shot advantage, 33-26.

Next up, the Devils welcome the Adirondack Phantoms to Times Union Center Friday at 7 pm. The contest marks the beginning of the Time Warner Cable Cup, which is awarded to the regular-season series winner between the two clubs.
