Grizzlies Sign Mark Isherwood out of Abbotsford Camp

West Valley City, Utah - Utah Grizzlies Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Kevin Colley announced today that the team has signed defenseman Mark Isherwood, who most recently attended training camp with the AHL's Abbotsford Heat.

Utah and Abbotsford are the minor league affiliates for the NHL's Calgary Flames.

Isherwood, 23, enters his third pro season after playing last year in Italy where he had seven goals and 18 assists for 25 points in 40 games with Cortina. He had two goals and four assists for six points in 11 games during the playoffs.

During his rookie season with the ECHL's Alaska Aces in 2010-2011, Isherwood led ECHL defensemen with 15 goals and 11 power-play goals; while also being named to the ECHL's All Rookie Team. In addition, he was a member of the Aces Kelly Cup Championship team along with current Utah forward Kory Falite.

The Grizzlies open the regular season Friday in Boise with their home opener being Saturday at 7 p.m. against the Steelheads. Saturday is a post-game skate with the team. Skate rental is $2.
