Tomas Tatar Reassigned to Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Detroit Red Wings on Monday reassigned Tomas Tatar from SHK 37 Piestany in the Slovakian ExtraLiga to the Grand Rapids Griffins.

Tatar, 21, rejoins the Griffins after playing eight games in his native country, where he led his club with 10 points (5-5-10). The native of Ilava, Slovakia, enters his fourth year with the Griffins and ranks among the club's all-time leaders with 64 goals (9th), 83 assists (10th), 147 points (9th) and 10 game-winning goals (T9th). The 5-foot-10, 186-pound forward tied for the team scoring lead in 2011-12, recording a career-high 58 points (24-34-58) in 76 games.

Tatar will practice with the Griffins this week at Van Andel Arena as they prepare for back-to-back home games on Friday versus the Milwaukee Admirals and Saturday versus the Hamilton Bulldogs to begin the 2012-13 AHL regular season. Tickets are available at griffinshockey.com.
