Colorado Eagles News Release
LOVELAND, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles of the ECHL, along with their home, the Budweiser Events Center (BEC), announced today that the arena has undergone an upgrade just in time for the team and the venue's 10th anniversary season and the hosting of the ECHL's All-Star festivities coming in January. A new, state-of-the-art, dasher board & seamless glass system has been installed at the decade-old building.
Larimer County Commissioner Steve Johnson said, "We are thrilled to have invested in this major upgrade in the rink at Budweiser Events Center. These new dasher boards and glass system will provide our loyal fans with a better game experience each time they come out to The Ranch for an Eagles game. It will also sustain one of the best home ice advantages in hockey for the Colorado Eagles and give them a superior playing surface to continue their success in the ECHL."
The new system includes spring-loaded glass channels that minimize player concussions, a "conversion friendly" base that helps increase the pace of play and seamless glass -- 140 inches tall in the end zones & 116 inches tall on the sides -- that will allow for a clearer view and increased fan safety. In addition, the top-end quality and design should decrease stoppages due to broken glass, creating an overall safer and greater fan experience.
Chris Stewart, the Eagles' President, General Manager & Head Coach, added, "We're always looking for ways to keep our players, opponents & fans as safe as possible, and this new board & glass system is the best available. Not only that, but the boards are extremely lively and the seamless glass should prevent awkward bounces, both of which will increase the pace and quality of the game, meaning that the only difference our fans will notice is that the action will be faster and even more entertaining!"
The Eagles open their 10th anniversary training camp on Friday and will play the first game with the new dasher board & glass system during a preseason contest on Friday, Oct. 5. The 2012-13 regular season begins on Friday, Oct. 12 (a complete schedule can be found at www.ColoradoEagles.com). Tickets for all Eagles home games can be purchased at www.ComcastTix.com, the Budweiser Events Center box office, or by calling 1-877-544-TIXX (8499) or 970-686-SHOT (7468).
