Boise, ID (9/27/12) - Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Brad Ralph announced Thursday that the ECHL's Idaho Steelheads have signed goaltender Ryan Zapolski (zah-POLE-ski).

Zapolski, 26, will be in Boise this weekend and on the ice Monday when the Steelheads open up training camp at CenturyLink Arena.

The Erie, PA, native is entering his second professional season out of Mercyhurst College (NCAA Division I). He split last season between Kalamazoo, Toledo, and Gwinnett of the ECHL, going 8-4-1 between the three stops with a 2.43 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage. He won 48 games between the pipes in his four-year career at Mercyhurst and was a two-time member of the all-conference team.

Ralph on Zapolski: "Ryan has done a good job everywhere he's been, all the way back to juniors (in the NAHL) when he set the league-record for wins in a season (42). We're excited to see that success continue here."

The 16th season of professional hockey in Boise kicks off on Friday, October 12, when the Idaho Steelheads host the Utah Grizzlies at CenturyLink Arena. Season Ticket packages are available now, starting at just $275 per seat for all 36 home games. Partial-season packages start at as little as $150 for fans who want a little more flexibility.
