Kamlops beats Kelowna in overtime

The Kamloops Blazers defeated the Kelowna Rockets 6-5 in overtime in an exciting Western Hockey League season opener in Kamloops on Friday night.

The Rockets earned a point for the overtime loss after battling from behind for most of the night.

Ryan Olsen, Tyson Baillie, Henrik Nyberg, Myles Bell and Dylen McKinley scored for the Rockets, who trailed 5-3 in the third period before scoring twice to earn the point and force overtime.

Tim Bozon scored three goals for Kamloops, including the overtime winner.

The two teams meet again on Saturday in Kelowna at 7 p.m. at Prospera Place.
