Des Moines Buccaneers News Release
Urbandale (IA) Des Moines Buccaneer fans will have a familiar place to tune into when looking to stay connected to their team in 2012-2013. 940AM KPSZ will once again serve as the team's radio broadcast home this season, carrying a majority of the games live and serving as the flagship to a multi-platform broadcast network.
Game coverage will begin with an extensive 30-minute pregame show and conclude with an in-depth postgame show. Additionally, all home games will include the "Scoreboard Show" featuring comments from head coach Jon Rogger, a popular feature for fans on their way home from the game.
KPSZ's radio broadcasts will also be available on mobile phones via the TuneIN radio app, which can be downloaded for free on most smart phones.
"Radio is still the most convenient way for fans to listen to any game but listening on a smart phone is rapidly gaining ground" said Buccaneers' radio broadcaster Scott Montesano. "In the next three years, listening to a game on a smart phone will be a normal part of everyday life."
Games will continue to be streamed online at praise940.com and fans will also continue to have the ability to watch games via the pay-per-view service FastHockey.com
KPSZ is part of the Des Moines Radio Group and in addition to the Buccaneers is also Central Iowa's home to the Green Bay Packers, the Iowa Cubs and high school sports.
Scott Montesano returns for his fourth season at the microphone for the Buccaneers. The Utica, NY native came to the Buccaneers having already covered minor league hockey and baseball in multiple areas including Maine, Vermont, North Dakota and Wisconsin.
The Des Moines Buccaneers are preparing for their 33rd consecutive season in the United States Hockey League beginning in the Fall of 2012. Since 1980, the Buccaneers have produced hundreds of NCAA Division I players and dozens of professional alumni.
