CHICAGO, Sept. 10, 2012 - The Chicago Sky and Motorola Solutions are working together to hold the first annual "Police and Fire Night" game at Allstate Arena on Tuesday, Sept. 11 when the Sky play the Minnesota Lynx. Tipoff is at 7:00 p.m.
To honor the many men and women who serve Chicagoland, Motorola Solutions is providing admission for all police and firefighters upon showing their badges. Additionally, a portion of each ticket sold to men and women in uniform for their families and friends will be donated by the Sky to either the Special Olympics for police or the Illinois Burn Camp for firefighters.
"It gives us great pleasure to work with Motorola Solutions to recognize the many men and women who serve our community, particularly on September 11th" said Adam Fox, Chicago Sky president and CEO. "These are real heroes who make great sacrifices to keep us safe."
Motorola has also enabled several local foundations who serve the community to participate in the special night. 500 tickets to the game were donated to the Hundred Club of Chicago, the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation, After School Matters, Special Olympics of Illinois, Illinois Fire Chiefs Association and Research Foundation, and Illinois Fire Services Association.
"We are honored to sponsor the Sky's salute to our local heroes; this event is a thank you to those who risk their lives to protect us," said Stan Jaworski, vice president of North America Marketing for Motorola Solutions.
As part of the night's events, local police and firefighters will be honored in front of the game's attendees and enjoy an evening of world-class basketball and family fun.
Tickets for the game, and the rest of Chicago's regular season schedule, can be purchased by calling 866.SKY.WNBA or visiting www.chicagosky.net.
