Idaho Falls Chukars News Release
The Idaho Falls Chukars are proud to host the inaugural equipment drive for pitcher Spencer Patton's non-profit organization Equipt. The newly formed organization will be accepting all new and gently used sporting equipment during the Chukars final home game at Melaleuca Field on Thursday, September 6th.
Equipt will have a booth set up just inside the gates at Melaleuca Field and will be accepting equipment for all sports in addition to running a raffle. The raffle will allow fans without equipment to donate the opportunity to help the new organization, and give them a chance to win an autographed Chukars team bat in the process.
Patton and his wife Jilleta recently began forming Equipt with the goal of bringing sports equipment to inner city children who could not normally afford it. All donated equipment will be sent to the Boys and Girls Club of Greater St. Louis (MO) while all monetary proceeds will be used to purchase new equipment and for transportation costs.
"It felt like God was calling for me to do something more in the community," said Patton. "I asked myself 'What are my assets? What am I good at? What resources do I have?' and it came from there."
The equipment drive will run throughout the entirety of the Chukars game and receipts will be available for all donations.
