Great Falls Voyagers News Release

GREAT FALLS - The Great Falls Voyagers (38-35, 14-21) fell and couldn't get up as the Missoula Osprey (38-35, 20-15) defeated them 8-2 Monday night at Centene Stadium. The Missoula win, combined with a Billings win in Helena, locked down the mechanism to determine the Voyagers' first playoff opponent: Billings will face the Voyagers unless Missoula sweeps the two teams' two-game series that starts Wednesday.

Missoula got a tone-setting homer in the first from Socrates Brito to set Missoula up 1-0. Rudy Flores came through later in the inning with the first two of his four RBI on the night and Missoula led 3-0. Though that was all Missoula needed, they added more in the third and the fifth and led 6-0 as starter Karl Triana (5-5) pitched into the sixth. Triana finished the first five innings striking out five and allowing only two hits, but loaded the bases with no outs in the sixth and was relieved by Dexter Price. Price stared down the biggest bats in the Voyager order and sgot a strikeout and an inning-ending double play to keep the Voyagers scoreless. They finally scored two off Price in the seventh, but that was their last rally as the fell 8-2.

The Voyagers host Missoula in the final home game of the regular season Tuesday night at Centene Stadium. It is Fan Appreciation night and there will be deep discounts at the concession stand, huge bargains on merchandise, and free prizes handed out all night. The game starts at 7 PM.
