Colorado Rapids News Release
COMMERCE CITY, Colo. - A goal from Bright Dike late in the first half was the only scoring as the Timbers topped the Rapids by a 1-0 score on Friday night in Portland, Ore. The two teams will meet again in just a few days, with the Rapids hosting the Timbers on Wednesday, September 5 at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City.
Midfielder Hendry Thomas, signed last week following three years in the English Premier League, played the full 90 minutes in his Rapids and MLS debut, showing well in central midfield. Thomas lined up next to Jeff Larentowicz, who made his 200th career regular season appearance. Midfielder Brian Mullan suffered a sprained ankle in the match, and will be evaluated further following the team's return to Denver.
