Texas Stars Reach Affiliation Agreement with Idaho Steelheads

August 31, 2012 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Texas Stars News Release

CEDAR PARK, TX - The Dallas Stars and Texas Stars announced today that the clubs have extended their affiliation agreement with the ECHL's Idaho Steelheads through the 2012-13 season.

It will be the fourth season the trio of teams has worked together. Idaho and Dallas have previously been affiliated in all but one of Idaho's ECHL seasons - Idaho shared an affiliation with Phoenix in 2004-2005.

The Idaho Steelheads play at the 5,006-seat CenturyLink Arena, which opened in Boise in 1997, and the club played host to over 140,000 fans last season. The Steelheads have qualified for the playoffs every year since joining the ECHL in 2003.

"Over the years, we have had a very positive relationship with the Idaho Steelheads organization," said Dallas Stars General Manager Joe Nieuwendyk. "We look forward to continuing the development of our prospects in Idaho as they take the necessary steps to become productive members of the Dallas Stars."

The ECHL is the premier level of "AA" hockey. The AHL is the highest level of minor-league hockey in North America.

The Stars open the 2012-13 season on Saturday, October 13th at San Antonio and their home opener comes on Sunday, October 14th as they host the Charlotte Checkers for a 7:00 pm face off at Cedar Park Center. 2012-13 season seat packages are on sale now.
